Once out of the cities Portugal is probably the cheapest country in the EU to enjoy and savour the local cuisine. Beer still costs Euro 1.00 and you can enjoy a local dish for less than Euro 10.00. The Italian mountain rifugio’s are not to be missed but equally the local restaurants and bars around Lake Garda are unforgetable.
